Watched Sting on Jonathon Woss, (sorry Ross) last night. No idea what channel, just happened to sit down with a glass of Rioja. The interview was a good bit of banter, Woss Style.

It’s the song ” Shape of My Heart” that got my attention.

The chord phrasing was just beautiful. Like the repetitive sound of gentle lapping at the waters edge of a Scottish Loch, surrounded by granite hills and of course, “.. a loaf of bread and thou beside me” borrowed from;

You may not know that Sting used to be a maths teacher and the words of the song reflect that magical alchemy of numbers and the illusion of life. No wonder it was covered by so many others from Back Street Boys to Sugababes etc.

The word SOUL,

has become inextricably linked with black music. James Brown takes centre stage as “The Godfather of Soul“

Could you say, “may his soul rest in peace”.

Then there is, Robert Johnson. Who allegedly sold his SOUL to the devil at the crossroads. Many seen to have travelled looking for the exact location, in the quest to be the next best guitarist.

There is a God! Well at least a music one. Air Traffic

played at Ryde, Isle of Wight last night and for once I was lifted out of mundanity (not a typo either) and to crown it all; I was with an angel. I wasn’t “nissed as a pewt”. (Translation: Pissed as a fart)
