Hilary Sells Fear, Should Tears Fail

In her determination to re-enter the White House.  But this time around, as the President rather than the wife in the bedroom, while her husband the President was being relieved.

Even from far off UK, this stinks;  like pig shit on a newly ploughed field.

Interesting song on

With refernece to the Clinton Ad Campaign:

The stern male narrator quotes wartime president Harry Truman’s famous political maxim, which Clinton has repeatedly invoked on the campaign trail: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

“You need to be ready for anything — especially now, with two wars, oil prices skyrocketing and an economy in crisis,” the narrator says. “Who do you think has what it takes?”

The 30-second broadcast does not mention Obama by name, and the Clinton campaign denied it was hurling a negative attack on the Illinois senator after a debate last week in which he complained about a barrage of hostile questions.

“It is entirely a positive ad,” Clinton’s new chief strategist Geoff Garin told reporters.

“It states why Hillary Clinton is the right choice to be president of the United States now. We’re at a moment where we need a president who’s got the strength and knowledge to take on very tough challenges,” he said. Source

Incidentally, this is the same person who is named after Sir Edmund Hilary, allegedly!

Paxman Pants M&S for no support down under; Vindicated!

AN UNDIE-COVER investigation has found the pants Jeremy Paxman moaned about are really the best. HA HA! Very funny.

BBC: In January, it was reported that the Newsnight presenter wrote in an e-mail to M&S that its pants “no longer provide adequate support”.

The presenter – who also hosts University Challenge – said he had not intended the matter to have been made public.

Which? tested the M&S pants against cheaper George Trunks from Asda, at £1.75 a pair, and F&F from Tesco at £1.66.

Calvin Klein’s £20-a-pair Body Trunks were also tested and were rated last of the four after doing badly in tests for pilling, or bobbling.

Which? said the M&S trunks did not shrink too badly, but Calvin Klein’s shrank particularly in the leg. The gussets on Tesco and Asda brands shrank the most.

An M&S spokeswoman said: “We are very pleased with the findings. We do an awful lot of testing and always felt they measured up to scrutiny.” Source: BBC
Did M&S (Marks and Spencer) really have to take a whole page ad? Still got ants in the pants, probably!

Germany Giving Away Fingerprints! = Free Shopping.

[A] hacker club has published what it says is the fingerprint of Wolfgang Schauble, Germany’s interior minister and a staunch supporter of the collection of citizens’ unique physical characteristics as a means of preventing terrorism…

“The whole research has always been inspired by showing how insecure biometrics are, especially a biometric that you leave all over the place,” said Karsten Nohl, a colleague of an amateur researcher going by the moniker Starbug, who engineered the hack. “It’s basically like leaving the password to your computer everywhere you go without you being able to control it anymore.”

Jacqui Smith (UK) is getting ready to roll out the new Bio-metric ID cards

[ B]ritain will begin issuing national identity cards within months, targeting foreigners, airport staff and students in the first wave of the program, the government said Thursday.Foreign nationals will need to provide fingerprints and personal data for a database linked to the plan starting in November, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said.

Even better news:

U.S. and Germany want to share fingerprint, DNA databases

[U].S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Attorney General Michael Mukasey, and their German counterparts–Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries–initialed an agreement on Tuesday to swap fingerprint and DNA data.

Soon all the great politicians fingerprints will be on ebay, I wonder whose will be the most expensive. Isn’t technology great!

Literary Meme

I’ve been tagged by Clare and she used reverse psychology to get me to do this. She was right, my first reaction was ‘NO, this is not for me’. Secondly all my “friends” are into serious political s**ff.

Anyway the rules appear to be quite simple, so here goes:

RULES

1. Grab the nearest book of 123 pages or more.
2. Open it to page 123.
3. Find the first 5 sentences and write them down.
4. Then invite 5 friends to do the same.

The Pilates Promise. Not erudite but practical as it happens to be by my right hand just now. I am trying to improve my flexibiity. Never know when I might need it.

1. The Pilates Promise has 160 pages with a lot of illustrations especially of women in sportswear in all kind of postures.

pilates-cover.jpg

2. Page 123 (img below)

My advice: Don’t try this at home. I’m still on week one.

pg123-pilates.jpg

3. Initiate from your abdominals to roll back, allowing your hips to curl under you. Focus on rolling smoothly to the tips of your shoulder blades. Keep your kneees loosely bent so that your feet are even more over your head as you roll back. Reverse the rolling process to return to the upright starting position and balance here for a moment. Repeat 8-10 times, Do not let head touch mat and rollto base of shouder blades.

4. I am going to send it to:
Jenice because she is a journalist and has a great taste, but very busy. Book Girl is a recent contact, but I have not laughed so much, Clary for being an open, adaptive and creative chameleon, Hanie from Malaysia speaks her mind, Nabiha writes about politics in Pakistan and has a brilliant title “I am woman, hear me roar”, Paul for his brilliant wit, Sorry Paul I’ve not been in touch

( This exercise is called the Seal and obviously because we have started at pg123 the begining of the exercise is missing and can be found here and as I am a registered Rugby coach I would not want you to get injured.. Please find out more about Pilates before attempting any of this on your own. Having said that, try it. It’s great!

To whet your appetite, a video of Seal in Pilates)

How long ago was 461AD? For the mathematically challenged.

Don’t Laugh and definitely none of the ROFLOL either. This is serious stuff for somebody mathematically challenged. :) As I kept finding it everyday this week.

My heart goes out to the person/persons who keeps searching for:

“How long ago was 461 AD”

Dear friend,

This is a simple maths problem.

Take the current year 2008 subtract 461 and you have 1, 547 years as the duration.

So the answer to” How long ago was 461 AD”?

1, 546/7 years (with margin for error)

Why? Because we are only into March ‘08, so it would be prudent to start the calculation with

2007-461=1546.

If you need an understanding of AD which stands for Anno Dimini

Simple but unreliable source is here

Traditionally, English copied Latin usage by placing the abbreviation before the year number for AD, but after the year number for BC; for example: 64 BC, but AD 2008. However, placing the AD after the year number (as in 2008 AD) is now also common. The abbreviation is also widely used after the number of a century or millennium, as in 4th century AD or 2nd millennium AD, despite the inappropriate literal combination in this case (“in the 4th century in the year of Our Lord”).

Because B.C. is an abbreviation for Before Christ, some people incorrectly conclude that A.D. must mean After Death, i.e., after the death of Jesus.

Thorough and incomprehensible is here

Hope that helps.
