PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Authorities in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have decided to rename a college after teenage activist Malala Yousafzai, who was shot and seriously wounded by the Taliban last week.
The decision to rename the Government Girls Degree College Saidu Sharif in the town of Mingora in Yousafzai’s native Swat Valley was made at a meeting earlier this week, in recognition of her efforts to promote girls’ education rights in the volatile region.
She was shot in the head last week by the Pakistani Taliban. She is currently receiving medical treatment in Britain.
