Rioting crowds have transformed Ferguson, Missouri, from a quiet city of 20,000-plus people into a apocalyptic scene of burning buildings and police in force on the streets.
Americans have taken to the streets around the country to protest against news that a grand jury decided not to indict a white police officer over the death of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown.
