Imams and other influential figures had joined forces to appeal to the terrorists to release the aid worker, a former taxi driver from Salford who left his job to travel to Syria to take help to victims of its civil war.

Dr Shuja Shafi, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: “This reported murder is a despicable and offensive act, coming as it does on the eve of the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Adha.

“It is quite clear that the murderers of Alan Henning have no regard for Islam, or for the Muslims around the world who pleaded for his life.

“Alan was a friend of Muslims, and he will be mourned by Muslims.

What Alan Henning beheading video tells us about Islamic State

In one sense, Isil’s latest beheading video represents just more of the terrible same: another victim in an orange jumpsuit, the same black-clothed, black-masked executioner with a London accent, the same grotesque conclusion.

As with the three men before him, Alan Henning is forced to address the camera, then there is an aggressive speech by “Jihadi John”, or however we want to term him, and then again the next victim is paraded before us.

This video raises more questions than it answers, though, for those curious about the jihadis’ motivation.

It is much shorter, at just over a minute. It feels rushed. The speeches are not lengthy: Mr Henning just says enough to link what is about to happen to him to the vote in the House of Commons approving the bombing of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant positions in Iraq on September 26.

The jihadi’s angry threats to “Obama” are in the same style, but equally short. Only two things are given the same attention as in previous videos: the lead-in, which is always taken from western news clip, this time reporting the vote to go to war by the House of Commons last Friday, and the close-up of the body.

#FreeThe4 Trolls – love or loathe ’em + How to handle a troll

A) Make him/her see sense (if possible)
B) Don’t feed the troll.

On Twitter you have several choices.

The simplest is to BLOCK. Please read Twitter’s own help page Blocking users on Twitter

You can also report a particular offence to @Support

You can unfollow and add them to a private list (See Use Private List On Twitter) to make sure they are not continuing to speak about you or the #

dont feed the trolls

On #FreeThe4 the trolls (plural) target is primarily @AlanouDAlfayez because the four daughters Sahar, Mala, Hala & Jawaher are all locked away in Saudi Arabia.  They, the trolls that is, try to discredit her by spreading lies.

Yes, they are a psychological nuisance and an aggravation she does not need.  However one must also consider the possibility that #FreeThe4 as a movement is growing albeit gradually and they are scared of public opinion.

One such event occurred today and I have copied the conversation, both as a record since trolls usually delete tweets but also as a demonstration that a healthy mix of sarcasm and reason does work.

It’s not pretty and one has to get used certain amount of personal abuse.

You will notice that G65 stops using #FreeThe4 because he does not want to attract the attention of anyone who does not follow either @AlanoudDAlfayez or myself and may only follow #FreeThe4 as in Tweetbeam.  He tries to make it PERSONAL.

I deliberately call him Nameless as he would not give me his real name, on a previous occasion. a sure sign of weakness.

Bush, Blair found guilty. But not enforceable

Bush, Blair found guilty of war crimes in Malaysian tribunal. (Trial in Absentia = Assange Sweden Red Notice)

Thanks to @sensimeliajah [Twitter link]

In Kuala Lumpur, after two years of investigation by the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission (KLWCC), a tribunal (the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal, or KLWCT) consisting of five judges with judicial and academic backgrounds reached a unanimous verdict that found George W Bush and Tony Blair guilty of crimes against peace, crimes against humanity, and genocide as a result of their roles in the Iraq War…..

The tribunal acknowledged that its verdict was not enforceable in a normal manner associated with a criminal court operating within a sovereign state or as constituted by international agreement, as is the case with the International Criminal Court. But the KLWCT followed a juridical procedure purported to operate in a legally responsible manner. This would endow its findings and recommendations with a legal weight expected to extend beyond a moral condemnation of the defendants, but in a manner that is not entirely evident…….

This recent session of the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal offers a devastating critique of the persisting failures of international criminal law mechanisms of accountability to administer justice justly, that is, without the filters of impunity provided by existing hierarchies of hard power.

Tony Blair should face trial over Iraq war, says Desmond Tutu

“This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!”

Total Voters 117 million in the Nov 2012 Presidential Elections. In a nation that boasts a current U.S.A. population of over 311 million people (311,800,000 in mid-2011)

  • People who took part in democracy, numbers just a measly 117 million as compared to 131 million in 2008

Donald Trump is perhaps pointing to some home truths, unpalatable though it may be!
gty donald trump dm 121106 wblog After Obama Victory, Donald Trump Rants on Twitter
Photo copied from ABC News & thanks to Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images

“We can’t let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty,” Trump continued. “Our nation is totally divided! Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us. This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!
    And then:
“Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble…like never before. Our nation is a once great nation divided! The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy. Hopefully the House of Representatives can hold our country together for four more years…stay strong and never give up! House of Representatives shouldn’t give anything to Obama unless he terminates Obamacare.”

Most Americans have markedly more pragmatic concerns than those who speak in apocalyptic terms about America’s future. They worry about jobs and how to preserve manufacturing against competition from globalisation. They are wary of redistribution towards the poor but made anxious by talk of painful reforms to such middle-class entitlement programmes as Medicare, the federally-backed health-insurance scheme for the elderly. Many women tell pollsters that they resent male politicians presuming to dictate to them about contraception and abortion. Above all, ordinary voters are desperate for more bipartisan cooperation, and furious with the gridlock in Washington.

Disappointment may loom. Mr Obama’s second term will see him thrown into almost immediate confrontation with Congress over taxation and spending. Optimists predict that Republicans in the House will have less to fear from a president who cannot run for office again, and so may give some ground on taxes to help cut the deficit. More gloomy sorts will wonder whether a defeated Republican Party with no clear leader will be more concerned with an existential internal fight over its very future.
